The Institute of Food Research is seeking a senior statistician to join the Analytical Sciences team, which provides core resources and support to staff and students. From 28th April 2017, the Institute of Food Research will integrate into the Quadram Institute, a new interdisciplinary research institute at the forefront of a new era in food and health research at the heart of the Norwich Research Park.
The post holder will carry out statistical analysis in collaboration with researchers and students working across the Quadram Institutes strategic science programmes. Provision of training and support to PhD students will also be a key duty. The ability to communicate effectively statistical concepts both written and orally to non-specialists is essential. The post holder will be expected to deputise for the Institute Statistician as required and carry out various sign-off duties (e.g. experimental designs; statistical approval during the governance process relating to human/animal studies).
The ideal candidate will hold a professional qualification in statistics, first and/or higher degrees with a significant statistics content, and substantial experience of statistical analysis of biological data and systems. Direct experience of experimental design and planning of animal, human and clinical trials would be an advantage.
